Arriving in Tbilisi

Airport: Tbilisi International Airport (TBS) is around 17 km east of the centre. Currency exchange, ATMs and SIM-card desks are in the arrivals hall.
From the airport: Bus 337 connects the airport with the city. App-based taxis (Bolt, Yandex Go) are the most convenient at night; the ride usually takes 20–30 minutes.
By train: Trains arrive at Central Railway Station, next to Station Square metro.

Metro: Two lines, trains every few minutes. Pay by contactless card or Metromoney card.
Bus: Extensive network of buses and minibuses. Use a journey-planner app for routes.
Taxi: Use apps for fixed, transparent fares.
Walking: The old centre is walkable, but hilly. Comfortable shoes are essential.
Cable car: Rike Park ↔ Narikala aerial tramway, and the Mtatsminda funicular.

Cards: Cards are accepted in most shops, restaurants and on public transport.
ATMs: ATMs are everywhere in the centre. Choose to be charged in GEL to avoid poor conversion rates.
Exchange offices: Exchange offices are common and rates are displayed outside. Compare a few in busy areas.

SIM cards: Main operators are Magti, Silknet and Cellfie. Bring your passport to buy a SIM.
eSIM: Local operators and international eSIM providers offer data plans.
Wi-Fi: Most cafés, restaurants and hotels offer free Wi-Fi.

Emergency: 112 is the single emergency number for police, ambulance and fire.
Pharmacies: Pharmacies are plentiful and several chains have 24-hour branches.
Embassies: Check your own government’s website for the embassy address and emergency line.
Public toilets: Available in metro stations, parks and shopping centres; some charge a small fee.
Tourist information: Tourist information centres operate in the city centre and at the airport.
