Bars run from the average low to the average high. Highlighted: the best months to visit.

January

6° High-3° Low6 rainy days

Cold and quiet, with occasional snow. Georgian Orthodox Christmas falls on 7 January, when the Alilo processions fill the streets, and the “Old New Year” is celebrated on the 14th. Sulphur baths and long dinners come into their own.

Usually the quietest and cheapest month: few visitors, short queues and low hotel prices. Grey days alternate with crisp, sunny ones — good for museums, theatre and the opera season.

July

30° High19° Low8 rainy days
